Mijn mening:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lucky in Love is het vierde boek in de Lucky Harbor-reeks dat ik las. Het maakte meteen ook duidelijk dat er in deze reeks telkens drie nieuwe delen kort na elkaar volgen. Je kan ze perfect los van elkaar lezen, maar op de \u00e9\u00e9n of andere manier zijn de personages bij die drie boeken telkens met elkaar verbonden. Zo namen de zusjes Traeger de hoofdrollen voor zich in de eerste drie boeken die ik reeds eerder las. Nu zijn het echter Mallory, Amy en Grace die samen The Chocoholics-club vormen die deze rollen voor hun rekening nemen.<\/p>\n

De samenvatting van ‘Lucky in Love’ spreekt voor zichzelf. Jill Shalvis schrijft echte feelgood-boeken. Ze zijn misschien niet voorzien van een onverwachte plotwending of hoge spanningsboog, maar ze staan wel degelijk garant voor ontspanning \u00e9n plezier.<\/p>\n

En eigenlijk is dat af en toe exact waar ik behoefte aan heb. Niet nadenken over plotwendingen of illustere connecties, maar leesvoer dat hetzelfde effect heeft als een dure relaxatie-behandeling. Ondertussen weet ik dus wel dat ik die Zen-achtige behandeling thuis moet ondergaan \u00e9n niet wanneer ik met het openbaar vervoer reis, want deze schrijfster brengt me meermaals aan het lachen.<\/p>\n

Zo is het grappig hoe de eerste bijeenkomst van de Chocoholics tot stand komt en in wat voor omstandigheden. Jill Shalvis haar personages komen ondanks de soms ’te gek voor woorden’-situaties waar ze af en toe in verzeilen heel herkenbaar \u00e9n sympathiek over. Dat telde ook voor Mallory en Ty.<\/p>\n

Mallory die zich 100% in zit voor haar werk \u00e9n het goede doel dat ze wil verwezenlijken. Mallory die rechtstreekse vragen stelt \u00e9n niet al te best is in subtiliteit, de vrouw die alle regels opvolgt, steeds alles in goede banen leidt \u00e9n zelfs nu nog steeds binnen de lijntjes zou kleuren. En toch \u2026 Mallory is dat brave imago ontzettend beu. Iedereen gaat er altijd vanuit dat zij het wel zal oplossen
\nEn dan ontmoet ze Mr Wrong en zorgt \u00e9\u00e9n keer buiten de lijntjes kleuren er voor dat ze haar brave image onwillekeurig van zich af lijkt te schudden in de nabijheid van deze gesloten Ty die haar beter lijkt te begrijpen dan haar eigen familieleden.<\/p>\n

De grappige conversaties, het zusterlijke gekibbel, de loyaliteit van vrienden, zelfs de plaatsvervangende schaamte bij sommige situaties \u2026 En dan zijn er nog de goedhartige, maar tegelijk uiterst nieuwsgierige inwoners, die zelfs de niet zo subtiele ‘Bemoei je met je eigen zaken’-blik van Ty negeren en volop poll’s en stiekem getrokken foto’s op hun FB pagina blijven posten
\nAl die elementen vormen samen telkens opnieuw een hartverwarmend, romantisch \u00e9n humoristisch verhaal. Alsof dat alles nog niet voldoende is, begint elk hoofdstuk met een perfect verantwoorde reden waarom we chocolade nodig hebben. Jill Shalvis zorgt er dan wel voor dat ik me gegarandeerd met haar boeken amuseer, ze maakt het me tegelijkertijd wel heel erg moeilijk om dat dieet vol te houden.<\/p>\n
